The 10 Evaluations: Part 3: Asteya, Peyton Fisher™ E-RYT 500 | RYS | YACEP | CH-CBS | RH-CBS

We’ve talked about being gentle and we’ve talked about being truthful. Today, I want to share the third Gift: Asteya, which means non-stealing. Now, usually, we think of stealing as taking something that doesn't belong to us—an object or money. But there is a much more valuable resource that we often take for granted, and that is time. I always tell my students who are training to become teachers: People only have so much time in their day. They are busy being moms and dads, teachers and preachers, workers and friends. They have lives that are waiting for them the moment they step off that mat.

When I lead a class, I make it a point of honor to start on time and end on time. If I runover, I’m not just being running over, I'm taking time they didn't sign up for; — I’m stealing from your next meeting, your family dinner, or your much-needed rest. We do the best we can in the time we have... and nothing more.
